Worth a few sleepless nights

Baby had started to sleep through the night, and it was magical.  However, the spell was broken this past week, with several episodes in one night, then one episode per night.  Regression is tough.

Right before his first birthday, I noticed he was get tube his first tooth. Yeah!  A little behind normal,  but I'll take it.  He wasn't acting grumpy at all like I'd been led to expect.  Cutting teeth is difficult, painfully business,  but baby was doing it without a whimper!

But now comes the second round.  It looked like he was getting a top lateral incisor, rather than the other central incisor on the bottom.  Weird, but okay.  It's hard to follow the progress of the little tooth buds, because baby won't exactly show them off.  Once in a while, you can catch a glimpse.

Yes, Andrew is holding baby upside down.

It's hard to see, but it looks to me like all FOUR top teeth are coming at once.  Or dropping, but only one has cut.  Or something.  I'm not sure of the terminology.

So congrats, baby.  You're in for a rough ride.

On a separate note, Andrew got off early on Friday, so we took the opportunity to visit the open house for the new Ft Collins temple.  It's going on for another week or so, but Saturday is super crowded.  It is beautiful, of course, with a feel of the older temples.  Curved ceilings, and lots of gorgeous stained glass.

There's a visitor tent so you can learn more about temples, and about this one in particular.  Then a big still shot of the temple you can get your picture taken in front of.  No worrying about other pesky toutists.

This is not that picture.

There are plenty of pics of the building all over the Internet.  How many are of us?  Not nearly so many.

how big is baby?

So big!  6lbs 13oz and 20 inches to be precise.  Two weeks ago, the pediatrician noticed baby's weight gain had fallen off, so we started upping the formula to water ratio and giving him a bit more volume, too.  It woked, because he's filled out some, making us all happy.

And say good bye to preemie clothes.  We had gotten lots of 0-3 months sized clothes, and some newborn sized, too, but never occurred to me to buy preemie.  I was supposed to have a full term, 8lb baby.  A couple of my friends (Diana and Anadine) very kindly bought us some cute tiny tiny outfits, and then Andrew's step mother brought us some pajamas to round things out.  Baby x really did get some wear out of everything, not just a token try-on.  But now, no more preemie.  Is it weird that I'm a little sad he's already grown so much?

At least he still looks so Tony in his newborn sized things.

Brave boy got his two months shots today, too.  He's unhappy, so we're all unhappy.  Here's his not quite chubby thigh with colorful bandages.

P.S.  it's 5 am.  He's been up every 2 hours.  I'm a bit tired.

Bedtime for baby. Or not.

We've been home for a few weeks now, six maybe?  It's hard to tell because the days blend together between feeding times.  We're in a rhythm of sorts, with the engine behind the schedule is on a circadian rhythm of like 5 or 6 hours instead of 24.

I wonder often what the little guy is thinking and wish he could tell me.  Is he happy?  Is he worried?  Is he just plain curious about what the wide world is about?  On the other hand, I love that he is so tiny and cuddly.  At the library yestetday, people walked by and pointed to baby and whispered "Look, he's so little."

He's in a sweet spot right now (and probably for a couple months yet) when he's just cute.  Not loud, not demanding.  Can't run away, or say no.  Everything going on it is supposed to be, as far as he knows.

Members of the ward brought us dinner a few nights and a little present, which was sweet.  Soon, a couple friends will be coming into town, to break up the tedium, I mean help with the massive adventure.  It'll be fun.
