Merry Christmas 2017

This pic took 8 tries for us all to be looking at the same place, not be moving, eating candy, or just looking weird.

I made Rachel's trifle from that episode of Friends, with the trifle/shepherds pie.  It wasnt too bad (cocoanut instead of meat, pear instead of onion and pea)

Sledding down the hill from our house.  Baby wasnt sure what to make of it.

He much prefered pulling me along.

Merry and bright

It finally snowed.  It was super cold to boot.  I bundled baby up in extra layers, hus heavy coat, those thumbless mittens, and a pair of boots he got last Christmas i thoughtfor sure wouldnt fit him tbis year.

This pic was after about 25 minutes outside. He'd had a great time throwing snow and traipsing around in our neighbors' yards and be was ready to be carried home.
I made an advent calendar.  Some ornements are knit, some are sewn, some out of felt, and some are store bought.  Amoung them are:

A log fire

Knit sock
Ginger bread house

Holly and canxy cane

Breakfast bacon and eggs

Embroidered star

Sit on it and spin

Baby came with me visiting teaching.  The woman we visit has several kids living with her, and they have a few old favorites laying around.

It took a few tries to get it right.

Christmas three ways

Go see Santa.  Baby was acting a bit weird at the church Christmas party.  He fell asleep right after this pic and then vomited 3 times overnight.

We went to a friend's cookie decorating party, which for baby meant eating one uniced cookie, licking the frosting off another and then having a melt down.

Baby and i went shopping.  He wasnt up for leizurely browsing.  Instead he grabbed a ukelele  (it was a hipster type of store), a rubics cube, then camped out under a table of used books.  When he finally exited, he would dissapear in the book stacks or amongst the toys while i looked around.  Not a productive trip.  Now i know why people shop online.

Christmas boss baby

No no no, all the toys are on sale, not the vegetables!   You know, Legos, blocks, dollies, stuff like that.  Radishes are full price.  In fact, Mark them up 10%!

It's Christmas.  Kids need toys not turnips.  Sheesh.

Someone get me a juice box!

Not sure what to make of it

This kid barely speaks, barely sleeps, but when he gets around to eating, what does he choose?  Chips and salsa.

Halloween: the main event

Our ward did a chili night and trunk-or-treat the other night, which we went to.  I had too much anxiety from baby's head wound earlier  Andrew was too tired from work so we didn't get a picture.

Baby was Superman and we were the Kenta. With his bleeding Head, we had no choice but to lean into it.  We all added some face paint, red, black, and green, to be Bizzaro versions  (which Andrew assures me is a thing).

But today is Halloween.  He got to go to his first real door.  He can say "treat", which took a few doors to get down.

Here he is at our neighbor's door.     I think the thing he was most excited about, really, was being able to go up to the door and not be shooed  away.  He loves to run up the lawns and I'm always pulling him away.

It was the cutest thing ever, watching him run up the sidewalks to houses, with his cape billowing behind.  We went to at 6 more houses than necessary because I loved it so much.

Pumpkin and blood

We finally got around to decorating our pumpkins.  We carved ours, but baby painted his.

We striped him down and let him do his thing.  It was so cute, he would very carefully dip a finger in paint, put his face quite close to the pumpkin and deliberately, judiciously put paint on a single swipe.  The use both hands to mix the delicate arc of paint into the mass.  Then he's put his paint covered hands on my leg.

He took a header off the foyer step and into the coffee table.  It was quite a gash.

Pumpkin patch 2017

Andrew got Wednesday off instead of his usual Monday.  We took advantage of the beautiful autumn day to go to a pumpkin patch.  Well, it was more of a kiddie fall fun land, with pumpkins for purchase at the end.  There were picture cut outs, which baby pushed me out of the way to get into.

A new thing for us, a duckie race.  Water flows down a pipe, and kids can put a rubber duck at the top, then the water is piped back up to the top.  baby thought it was the best thing ever.

There were also a couple inflatable activities: a platform to run and jump in, a dragon obstacle course, and a maze.  We put baby on the dragon, which annoyed him right away because he didn't get a chance to look things over first.  Fortunately, some bigger kids came along and climbed right up, then slid right down.  One kid kind of pushed baby down the slide, which was exactly what he needed.

There was a petting zoo.

Earlier that week: baby thought I needed to climb into his covered little red wagon. I did only barely fit.

then at the dollar store, the little cars needed to line up for their tune up.

Team sports

Baby and I went to the park, as we do most days.  There was a kid soccer class about to start.  He stole a kid's soccer ball and had a great time almost but not white getting in everyone's way.

And the other day, we had an adventure at Target. On the way home, he must have been unable to decide if he was more hungry or more tired.

Garden of the Gods

We spent the day at Garden of the Gods.  It was a grey rainy day, but that just made the rocks look that much redder.

Baby, as usual, had a different idea of whatseem interesting.  First, he wanted to explore one little area.  Later, he wanted to wander down dangerous looking hiking trail.

All told, though,  it was a nice day.

I'm a sucker for it everytime

How can you not go along when that little hand grabs yours?

We've been sick the last few weeks.  First, baby was pretty lethargic for a few days.  I thought it was thrush and took him to the doctor.  He, in fact,  had strep.  A week or so of antibiotics and he was better, but not 100%.  Then he threw up a couple times.  And his appetite was lower than normal.  But about the time he was feeling better...

Andrew starting feeling I'll and throwing up (in a rather spectacular fashion), but like a trooper went to work anyway.

It is currently my turn.  No vomit, but still feeling pretty yucky.

The beauty machine gets them early

Baby found my puffy eye stick a few days ago.  He's seen me wipe the wand under my eyes plenty of times so he totally knows what to do.

Here he is using it to de-puff his neck.

You can also see the remnants of his breakfast in front of him: waffles and peaches.  Did he eat any?  No, no he did not.
